The New Year is here! We’re partying like it’s 2022 and we’ve got nothing to lose.

(Except for last year’s trends – ba-dum-tsh!)

Seriously though, out with the old and in with the new, right? You know what they say – New Year, New Home. January encourages everyone to hit the reset button on their health habits and routines as we try on new wardrobes and new mantras.

Have you ever heard this old saying?

“Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”

At Abide Designs, we’re huge proponents of sustainability, so we love that, but sometimes a refreshing coat of paint, a new rug, a new accent chair… well… sometimes (most times) it sparks joy to upgrade your surroundings, whether they need to be or not. Life is too short to not treat yourself if you can. So have fun this new year!

Allow the trends that speak to you… speak to you!

You can always pay forward the items you don’t want anymore, or sell them for extra cash. And if anyone makes you feel guilty about giving your surroundings a refresh, try not to take it to heart. – They’ve obviously never experienced the relief of finding the right chair and rug combo that transforms your working-from-home experience from “just getting by” to thriving, or the inner peace that comes with being surrounded by colors that speak to your soul.

Since the pandemic, there’s been an increase in outdoor living areas – especially in Florida. Whether you want more BBQs or pool days with family and friends, or you want to install a rustic pizza oven and dining patio, we can help you figure out the best use of your space.

Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year

Pantone released the official color of 2022: PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri:

This is very exciting! It’s not quite purple, and it’s not quite blue. It’s something special in-between. According to the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman:

“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family, encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions.”

Have you ever seen something that completely blew your mind?

If you’re not used to bright colors, but can’t stop thinking about that orange couch you saw the other day, maybe it’s time to start experimenting and make some bold moves.

On the contrary, if you’re usually finding yourself surrounded by a chaotic color experience and it’s more overwhelming than not, then maybe it’s time to go monochrome or neutral.

Figure out what works best for you.

We highly encourage you to experiment and get comfortable with the different looks that could start defining your rich, inner life. Pick colors that mean something to you. Look up the meanings behind different colors and choose the ones that reflect what you need the most. You’ll be happy you took the time to figure out what you really want.
